Bybit offers several ways to close your Perpetual and Futures positions. Whether you want to close a position instantly, at a specific price or using automation tools, this guide walks you through your available options.

    1. Immediate Close Methods

Use these methods to exit your position instantly at the current market price.

    Quick Close

Tap the Quick Close button on the chart to exit your entire position at the market price with one tap.

    Market Close (From Positions Tab)

In the Positions tab, select Market under Close By. Enter the quantity you wish to close — partial position closures are supported. The Slippage Tolerance setting allows you to input the maximum price difference you're willing to accept for your market order, based on the Ask1 price for buys and the Bid1 price for sells.

    Market Close (From Order Window)

In One-Way Mode, place an opposite-direction order matching your current position size to close it.

For example, to close a 1 BTC long position, place a 1 BTC short market order. Please note that if the order quantity exceeds your current position size, a new position in the opposite direction may be opened.

In Hedge Mode, switch to the Close tab and place a close order directly.

    Close All

Use the Close All button to exit all open positions across all markets at the market price.

    Notes:

    • All immediate close methods execute at the current market price and may be subject to slippage.
    • If your position size exceeds the symbol's maximum order quantity, the system will split your close order into smaller ones, with a 100ms delay between each.
      • Example: For a 600 BTC position on BTCUSDC, where the maximum order size is 200 BTC, the system will divide the close order into three separate 200 BTC orders. After the first order is submitted, the second will be sent to the order book 100ms later, and the third will follow another 100ms after that.

    2. Limit and Conditional Close Methods

These options are ideal when you want to set a specific exit price or automate your position closure based on certain triggers.

Limit Close (From the Positions Tab)

In the Positions tab, select Limit under Close By, then enter your desired exit price and quantity.

Limit or Conditional Order (From the Order Window)

In One-Way Mode, place an opposite-direction order matching your current position size to close it.

    Limit Order

    Conditional Order

Note: If the order quantity exceeds your current position size, a new position in the opposite direction may be opened. To avoid this, you can enable Reduce Only for a limit order or Close on Trigger for a conditional order.

In Hedge Mode, switch to the Close tab and place a close order directly.

    Limit Order

    Conditional Order

Conditional orders are not supported in Hedge mode.

To learn more about the difference between limit and conditional orders, refer to the Types of Orders Available on Bybit.

    3. Risk Management Orders

These automated features help you manage risk by triggering position closures when certain conditions are met.

Take Profit (TP) / Stop Loss (SL)

A TP/SL order allows you to set a target price to trigger a close order to secure profits or limit losses. For more details, refer to Introduction to Take Profit and Stop Loss (Perpetual and Futures Contracts).

    Maintenance Margin Ratio (MMR) Close

MMR Close will automatically place a market order to close the selected position in full if your account's maintenance margin rate (MMR) reaches the preset trigger level. For more information, visit Maintenance Margin Rate (MMR) Close Order.

    Trailing Stop

A Trailing Stop order dynamically adjusts the stop price with market movements, helping you lock in profits while limiting potential downside risk. For more details, refer to Trailing Stop Orders (Perpetual and Futures Trading).

Note: If you can't find any of the above risk management orders in the App, you may have accidentally disabled them in your position interface. To re-enable them, go to Position Interface Settings.

    4. Tools That Support Position Closure

You can also use advanced order tools to close positions. Ensure Reduce Only is selected to avoid unintentionally opening new positions. For more details, please refer to the respective guides:
